Clif and Su, in their 51st year of marriage. What wonderful hosts! Su and I had so much fun talking about the days when we worked together in the 70s. Several of our other friends from those intense times are reading this blog. I love you all!

On Thursday, we packed up, attached the trailer and headed out, planning a stop at Clif's college, Bowdoin, to visit a couple of museums. They were great, but I am not allowed to put photos from them on the web. Then we saw a poster for an appearance that night by the Ying Quartet. We saw many performances by this foursome when they had an NEA Rural Residency grant and lived in Jessop, Iowa from 1992-94. Now they are world famous. We went to the concert with Clif and Su and spent another night at their house.

The Yings were incredible! They spotted Alan in his Luther sweatshirt on the front row and were not surprised to see us backstage. The dean who introduced them and Phillip Ying both spoke about the importance of the years in little Jessop.
